Many of you know Tom from his years in Concord NH at Tom McDowell Training Stable established in 1971. A 1969 graduate of UNH, Tom has spent his life on a quest to learn ever-more about horses and our communication with them. Tom is a current member in good standing of the: American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA); American Paint Horse Association (APHA) and National Reining Horse Association (NRHA). Tom and his wife Linda breed Classic Reining Quarter Horses at their ranch.

“I have trained and shown horses to national and regional titles including but not limit to: AQHA world qualifiers, NRHA futurity finalist, POA World Championships, AQHA and APHA top 10. Over the years I have trained thousands of horses. I also give clinics to horse enthusiasts throughout the US and Canada. The most important aspect of my clinics is helping people and horses learn. I am an advocate of “natural horsemanship” (working with the horses’ natural instincts not against them). I continue my education in “natural horsemanship” annually by attending clinics given by worldrenowned horseman Buck Brannaman, Joe Wolters, and Byran Neubert.”

Tom’s forte is working with people and problem horses. While he is still learning today, Tom can help with any discipline by drawing from the classical basics of horsemanship and his natural teaching abilities.

Day and Overnight Stabling available as well as trailer and tent camping. Clinic Fee: $250 per session.
Friday nite Reining: $125. Private lessons $100; Semi Privates $75 each. $10 audit fee. Stalls $25/nite, $15/day.

“When I had a dressage show coming up, I would go ride with Tommy. My strait lines were strait; circles were round and score were high after his prep. Amazing!” – former NH student

“It didn’t matter what kind of horse I brought; Tom would always solve the problem and leave my horse totally calm and understanding” – fellow trainer from NH.
